Mario Ismael de la Paz Roa was born October 1, 1973 in Manzanillo, Granma, Cuba. He graduated from the Faculty of Art, Instituto Superior de Arte Havana.
He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree with a focus on the restoration and conservation of works of art. He has also completed higher professional education in sculpture. Postgraduate studies in applied organ building and repair of antique musical instruments and applied organology. He worked at the National Center for Restoration, Conservation and Museums in Havana. He is an associate professor at the College of Arts in Havana. He currently lives in Prague.
